Gates Cambridge Scholarships for International Students

The Gates Cambridge Scholarships ranks among one of the most prestigious international scholarships in the world. The Gates Cambridge Scholarship programme was established in October 2000 by a donation of US$210m from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to the University of Cambridge; this is the largest ever single donation to a UK university.

Awards are made to applicants from countries outside the UK who aim to undertake a full-time postgraduate degree in any subject offered at the University of Cambridge. A total of about 95 Scholarships are awarded each year for PhD, MSc or MLit, or a one year postgraduate course in any subject offered at the University of Cambridge

Value of Scholarship:

A Gates Cambridge Scholarship is a full scholarship, covering all costs related to studying at Cambridge including tuition fees, maintenance allowance, travel costs,. Additional funding such as academic development funding, family allowance, fieldwork, etc is provided at the discretion of the funder.

Applications will open on 3 September 2018 and have two application deadlines: 10 October 2018 (US citizens resident in the USA) and 5 December 2018/3 January 2019 (all other eligible applicants resident outside the UK) hence, it is important to start the process of applying for the courses early.  For more on deadlines, check here.
